Jimmie Mickens began training in the martial arts with his mentor, Grandmaster S. R. Moreland in 1968. He has earned Black Belts in TaeKwonDo, Hapkido and HoShinDo. Through the years he has won many local, regional and national championships including Grand Champion at the American International Tournament. Grandmaster Jimmie Mickens was inducted into the 2015 Korean Martial Arts Masters Hall of Fame.
As a martial arts instructor Grandmaster Mickens has one main goal and that is to share his vast knowledge and experience with each and every student. He teaches basic martial arts including physical and mental techniques and each student is taught at their own pace. With each achievement the students foundation grows stronger and the addition of real world self-defense is added.
Grandmaster Mickens believes in and lives by the tenets of martial arts. Most important to him is the appreciation shown him by the parents of his students for his mentoring of their children with his patience, perseverance, preciseness, and kindness.
