Hidy Ochiai: Washin-Ryu

Japanese martial artist Hidy Ochiai is a martial arts instructor, author and actor. Hidehiko Ochiai was born on September 27, 1939. He is created with the establishment of the Washin-Ryu style of karate in the United States beginning in 1966. He was the winner of the United States Grand National Karate Championship five consecutive times.

Hidy Ochiai was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame twice. He was Instructor of the Year for Japanese Arts in 1979 and Man of the Year in 1980.

As an actor he can be seen in the films Fist of Fury (1972), Fight To Win (1987) and Hawkey (1988) and on the television series Kung Fu.

Hidy Ochiai is the author of several self-defense books, and has also translated Miyamoto Musashi’s The Book of Five Rings. He has published the following works:
