ACTION MARTIAL ARTS MAGAZINES HALL OF HONORS
The “FIERCEST” place in the world on January 10th, 2009 was at the Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City New Jersey, where the world’s largest gathering of Martial Arts Superstars, Film and Combat Celebrities, and renowned Masters from around the world gathered to meet, greet, and share with the thousands who congregated from around the globe.
Prominent Martial Artist and promoter of the event, Alan Goldberg, brought together 40 vendors with booths and 30 seminars which were held by some of the world’s best Martial Artists. A sampling of some of the seminar instructors were . . . Joe Lewis, Bill Wallace, Don the Dragon Wilson, Cynthia Rothrock, Christine Bannon Rodgriques,  John Pellegrini, Olando Rivera, Michael DePasquale, Bob McEwen, Danny Lane, Bam Johnson, George Alexander, Gary Alexander, and Kevin Cullen. We are proud to report that over 2000 Martial Artists showed up to be a part of this record breaking Seminar and Mini Trade show! Suffice it to say, with the dire economy and troubling times we are presently facing, the Martial Arts world still managed to come together in support of the Action Martial Arts Magazine event in spite of it all. That says a lot about what we as Martial Artists stand for and the importance of recognition those that make this a worldwide event.
We were honored by some new faces this year including the The Traveling Troop of Shaolin Monks of China, as well as the former Police Commissioner of New York, Mr. Bernard Kerik. Other special guests who attended and have continuously offered their support through the years were Chuck Zito from HBO’s OZ, Phil Morris from Seinfeld and currently starring in TV’s Smallville, Kickboxing world Champion Jeff Smith, Hank Garrett from Car 54 Where are you? and David Toma of Baretta fame. Of course, we feel that everyone at the event is a celebrity in their own right! We are proud to say this year’s event at our landmark banquet was another OUTSTANDING success, with a full house, thanks again to all who attended and who have continuously given their support.
The Hall of Fame and Honors Banquet is the largest Martial Arts event worldwide with an attendance of well over 1,000 martial artists and guests joining each annual event. Our event has garnered so much publicity over the years that it has been dubbed “The Academy Awards of Martial Arts”. In the past, many other celebrities have graced our halls including Comedian Joe Piscopo, Actor Michael Jai White from the movie Spawn, Actor Chris Penn, Actor James Lew, Actress Karen Shepherd, Chuck Wepner of Rocky Fame, Mortal Combat star Carey Tagawa, and UFC champions Rampage Jackson, Dan Severen, and Frank Shamrock.
As our 10 year anniversary Hall Of Honors Banquet event approaches us in 2010, special plans are already underway to celebrate this milestone event. Action Martial Arts Magazine looks forward to the next event with anticipation and excitement and we hope to see all our fellow martial artists and friends . . . those from the past, those that came for the first time this year and those who will come next year to join in the celebration!
